Can somebody give me confirmation that the U8 can be removed and controller one simply wired to the two lower pins on the Pif?

Can anyone confirm this to work with no issues?

Many thanks

I've done this on every n64 ive trimmed even i i dont need to because its easier to solder to the pif chip that any other spot. It works perfectly no issues. I remove it by cutting the pins of the chip with an xacto knife and then i clean it up with my soldering iron.

i have a pal board here, and i removed u8, cleaned the pads.
and shortend the 4 pairs of legs on the pif(p) chip
applied the 2.2k fix on leg 8

the system turns on and i get the no controller display

i hooked up a controller with the white wire to the bottom set of shortend legs and ground and 3.3v to the red and black wire

still no controller. any idea?
