Questions about the dreamcast keyboard

Does anyone know if dreamcast games that support the keyboard need the numpad? I would love to include a keyboard on AfroLH's DCLO , but I havent got room for a full sized keyboard. I need a keyboard under 12" wide, and none of em have a numpad. I can get a converter, so using a non-official keyboard isnt an issue, but will the lack of a numpad screw up compatibility? Also some of the keyboards have an overlaid numpad, with a FN key to activate it. Do you think that would work for entering numbers?

The Dreamcast has its own native keyboard.

It does, but you can buy little converters to use a standard ps/2 keyboard.
