hey all, I was just working with my 79001 motherboard and I made a discovery, so here it is:
on most versions of the 7900X motherboard, there are two lid switches, one at the front, on a pcb dangling from an ffc, and one at the back, sitting in the most remote corner of the board.
I've done the mod to relocate the top switch, and I wanted to cut some length off of the bottom, but the switch was interfering, so i traced the tracks using my multi-meter, and MSpaint, and fount a lovely test pad located much farther in:
these show how the traces terminate through the multiple layers board
after i realized that both switches are actually connected to the same traces in series, all i had to do was connect them above board
now i just have to solder one end of the wire, it doesnt matter which, to 3.3 volts to make the system think the lid is always closed
or
solder one end to a switch, and connect the switch to 3.3 volts, that way i can use discs!!!
