Powering a pair of iluv cube speakers.

Howdy folks. New to the forums and just starting my first handheld which is based on the Gamecube.

I have very limited knowledge of electronics so may ask some daft questions in the near future.

Ok, here goes...

I am assembling the last of the components i need to begin the build. I have bought a set of usb powered iluv cube speakers (model no. Isp170). I am wondering how i should power these. As the machine is my first foray into console modding, i am initially not going to use a battery system. I will have it run off the standard power supply (12v). Can i just pick up the 5v line off the cubes regulator board? Perhaps someone has chopped up a set of these speakers and knows whether or not their circuitry includes a regulator (allowing me to stuck stick em on a 12v line), or even a better way to hook them up? Should i be looking for a cheap micro usb car charger to salvage for a 12-5v regulator.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer :).

Revision unknown at present. Still waiting for the platinum cube i bought to be delivered. I dont forsee any issues with which revision it is though as its easy enough to find revision specific info on the googleweb :D.

If im mistaken, then ignorance is bliss :).
