I should try this, I hate reaching remotes around corners to change channels or volume control when I'm in a different room or something, as long as I angle the thing right I should be able to do it!
(Plus, I have extra IR flax from a try at making a wii sensor bar)

If you're doing this and planning on using it from a ways away, don't use an IR LED to recieve the signal, use an actual IR Receiver.
