plugging in headphones causes gamecube to reset

It works, and sound works, BUT the gamecube still resets/shorts out when I plug in headphones

the words "input" and "output" are very confusing to me on marios diagram. There is simply a - and + on both speakers. Both speakers are the sound outputs of the amp which gets its input from the L and R signals of the motherboard? At least thats how I understood it :/

Lol, if someone else out there has an iLuv amp, I challenge you to get this working. Pretty sure its impossible.

Send me one.

Also, it's probably just MSpaint, but I don't see how Ashen's diagram is any different from tchay's other than the colors. Both are correct from what I can tell.

It's not the wiring diagram, and it's probably not the headphone jack(I mean, it's clear on one side, you can see if it's working or not.) It's most likely the amp, meaning there's no easy fix. Try a different/confirmed ground. What are the speakers rated at?

not sure about the rating but I have had this problem since the Ccube days. So I may need to stop using this amp.

The "Tchay Amp" is great for mono, but I'm doing stereo for this project.

Has anyone tried these???

Its only 3 bucks so I may just buy them and see if the wiring works.

But SS, not that I don't believe you, but who has actually wired up headphones via marios diagram WITH a stereo amp and confirmed it working? And what amp was used?

I'm pretty sure everyone on this site who has ever wired a headphone jack has used that diagram. You're the first person to screw it up :P

I've been the first person to do a lot of things in the gamecube/modding scene ;)

But this seems more like an exception to the rule as appose to a "screw up." My question stands: Who has a working stereo amp w/headphone jack and what amp is it? As long as it is small, I will scrap my iLuv amp and use IT instead.

Thats the amp I'm using in my portable. It isn't stereo, it just splits the signal to two speakers.

Thanks for the heads up good sir! Maybe everyones been using only mono amps this whole time and I am the first person to try a headphone jack with stereo

Why don't you just eliminate the amp from the equation for now. Just wire the L/R audio lines from the GC to your headphone jack/speakers. At least then you'll know if its the amp *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing up, or you *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ing something else up.

Well the headphone jack works fine without the speakers. And the speakers work fine without the jack.

But I hadn't thought of wiring it to the motherboards on-board amp. I guess I would just use the L and R lines and the ground one end of each speaker. I'll try that tomorrow.

What amp do you use Ashen???

Technically speaking my car stereo. Albeit it works in reverse as an input.

Ah, portable wise, the SLGC had stereo and a headphone jack IIRC, and I used bentomo's audio amp.

It's not as small as the ebay ones and requires some intelligence to wire it up, but it was pretty nice all in all.
