Person64

My first portable N64! :D I already ordered the batteries and I am currently attempting to relocate the cart slot. This is my progress so far. I took the case off and removed two of the controller ports. The case i will be using is a Polycase WA-25. Im not sure what screen to use yet, a Zenith screen, or those 3.5" Car reverse monitors.

As You can see, the wire is really stiff, so Im going to need to redo this... again.
Here's another picture to show how stiff it is:

Advice is always welcome, as I am a complete noob to this.

Nice work so far.
I recommend trimming the board a little, And Getting some diagrams as reference.
Even SS uses diagrams :p

that looks like the same type of wire i was using! it is really hella stiff, definitely not fun to work with. but the soldering job itself looks pretty good. keep it up :D

most folks use either IDE cable, or the wire from controller cords. personally, i tend to use 32 AWG kynar, but it can be a downright pain in the ass.

Hmmmm... Even though it will by a huge pain in my backside, I think it would be good to buy some IDE cable and rewire the whole thing. The wire is so stiff that it breaks the soldering connections if i try to bend it

ok, I got some IDE cable, and wired it up, and im going to test it out now. BUT!!! HERE IS THE AGONIZING THING!!!! I CANT FIND MY *Can'tSayThisOnTV*ING POWERBRICK, and so, as of right now, I am trying to deal with a stubborn one, that only works when it wants to. So im trying the powerbrick out on my "I know it works" n64, looking for a nice spot to test my Person64 on. ARGH

Project is going to be on hold for a while, as I must attend my cousins wedding in Lake Tahoe, or however you spell it I should be back home in a week, and hopefully, my batteries will have arrived, our housesitter will hopefully not blow them up, and i can continue with the project

ok, my batteries came in the mail, and i was wondering if i solder the wire right onto the battery or just tape it down with electrical tape

yeah, the only thing I use electrical tape to hold together is speaker wire, but i twist the wires first, so even that wouldn't really count.

OK! PROGRESS!* I got my batteries wired together on the protection circuit, and they are all charged up. But because i am an idiot, i forgot to order some samples of the step down regulator from TI :cry4: ! But my powerbrick is broken (it didnt work so if bludgeoned it to death to harvest its innards) and I was wondering if it was possible to work without 3.3Volts for now, because it is my understanding that that only powers the controllers, and I just want to know if my cart relocation worked.
tl;dr: I want to turn on n64 without 3.3V recieving power, will it break?
