I'm not sure as to where this thread should be posted so if it's in the wrong one I apologize and hope that a moderator will relocate it for me.
I collect games systems and probably have systems from before most of the members here parents even met. My most prized collection is my NES collection. I'm considering selling it but I have a dilemma... What is it worth REALISTICALLY? I have a collectors book that states the rarity and price that each games is worth from licensed to unlicensed games for CART ONLY not any boxed games. With that being said among the nearly 800 (over 700) released games for the NES in the 80's and 90's licensed and unlicensed I'm just over the 500 mark NO DOUBLES.
I'm a regular on ebay and I can't find a collection as extensive as mine. I've been checking the last 2 weeks and I see people bidding over $500 for collections with 150 or less games with titles not nearly as rare as some I have. So if I just sold every game at $3 a piece (which would be ridiculous) that's $1500 easy. Would anybody even bid on a collection with a starting price of $1000 on ebay for what I've got??? If I go by what I've got in the value of CART only I have a little over $3000 in games.
I do have boxed COMPLETE games of both covers of Metroid, both Zelda and Link boxed and in the gold and gray cartridges each, Doctor Mario, Metal Gear, Super Mario 1/2/3 and Super Mario/Duck Hunt and Super Mario/Duck Hunt/Track and Field, Dr Mario, Punch Out and Mike Tyson's Punch Out, Crystalis, Bible Buffet, Exodus, Double Dragon 3, Castlevania 2 and 3 (sorry not 1), Mega Man 2 and 6 and I few I can't remember but aren't as valuable either.
I do have doubles that I'm keeping for myself for when my kids are old enough to appreciate them and a system for each. I'll probably wait until they're 18 and it'll be their "I'm kicking you out now" present lol
Can Anybody give me ideas as to what I should do with my collection if not on ebay then? Thank you.
