Negative screen on GBA SP?

Hey ModRetro!

First off, I was going to work on a color scheme and a simple usb mod (to charge because I tened to loose my charger). i've gotten the usb mod to work on another GBA SP (my sort of... test subject GBA SP) and was going to mod my useable one. So I got two GBA SP's from a local used electronics store for about $15 plus a game ("free").

I took the two apart completely and I managed to fry a board when I was testing some voltage. So now I have a screen and board from two different SP's. I put the ribbion cable into the board with the other screen and tested it out to make sure it works. And... it sort of does. Somehow I managed to get a negative screen. I haven't done any moding to it yet and was wondering why this has happened. My only guess is because of the different dates of the GBA SP's being made. In the video, there is some hot glue that I accidentally got on the board. It wasn't on any chips though.

And sorry for the bad video quality. It was like 3am at the time and I attempted to film it on my phone and it was in the kitchen

Call it a feature and sell it, people do that with the original gameboys.

My advice is to check the ribbon cable, adjust it, clean it, etc.

There is a potentiometer under the battery that changes brightness or something with the screen. Move this around till it looks normal.
I don't know exactly what it does, but I've been able to get a negative image while messing with it before on mine.
