Need good tips for what kind of batteries i should use

I need to know what kinds of batterries I should use for the portable n64 I'm gonna be building in the summer. and also how to have a light to alert me when the battery power is low.

Use 2 3.7v li-po batteries wired in series with a 7.4v protection circuit and a Li-Ion smart charger wired to a DP-DT switch for power.
