My controller shuts off my Gamecube

The controller I'm using for my portable seems to have gone haywire. Yesterday it was working fine and I came home after school today (go freshman!) to work on it and it just shuts off my gamecube. I thought at first it was the regulator that it couldn't handle any extra volts so I tried another controller it worked fine. I removed any bridges (yes I had some) and it just shuts it off. The fan still runs but the board or regulator just quits when it's plugged in. I'd be happy to take and post pictures of they would help.

The same thing happened to me when I was making my portable. My problem was that I had wired it incorrectly, and was shorting something out.

Do you mean like wiring player 1 data and the voltages or tact switches and L&R. Because I've left the plug on to test it until I put everything in.
