Lid Switch Errors My Gamecube

This is by FAR the most frustrating part of making my GCp... The Dang lid switch (pin 23), when shorted to ground, gives me an error. The WASP works on my Wii, my SD card is fat32, pin 29 is GND, region switches are set, I have no idea what to do. Here's a video that showcases my problem more in-depth:

The pin 23 Lid switch doesn't get shorted to ground. It gets connected from the Wiikey/Wasp to the motherboard.

Which pin is the lid trace connected to then?

Edit: Reconnected p23 on mobo to p23 on megadrive, but now I need to know where to bridge the lid switch to because my "LID" traces broke off.

Both of these images belong to Ashen.

The pin numbers in those diagram are reversed because it's a pinout for the GC DVD drive. Pin 23 is pin 12 in this case. So you would wire pin 23 from the modchip to pin 12 in any of those locations on the motherboard.

Ok, I got all that. Here's my main issue right now: The "LID" traces broke off on my megadrive, and now I need to know where I can solder to make the "LID" traces bridged even though they're gone.

Nevermind, the mobo just gingivitus-inviting gave out. Perfect.
It just stopped working...? You must have shorted something. As long as you can find out what it is, it probably isn't fatal. I hope you weren't running it without a heatsink.

I was probing connections from the filters to my megadrive and now it won't boot, heatsink and fan are on.

Check if there are any short circuits between main voltages and ground. If you've trimmed your board, one of the internal layers could be touching ground. There isn't much else that will keep it from turning on.

im using pin23 on the gamecube mainboard and this wire to act as my switch

stop!!

clarify what you are doing because pin23 on the GC mainboard is a data line
pin12 on the mainboard is for lid switch...

please post a better picture of the MEGAdrive so i can see which pads have been destroyed and ill find a solution for you

I guess "snapped" is a bit of an exaggeration... "Bent because I was getting pissed off" is more like it:

EDIT: I THINK I FOUND THE CULPRIT

Pretty much confirms my suspicion that I really suck at soldering. I'm just surprised I got this far.

It could also be that you're not using a hot enough soldering iron.

Possibly. The range on my station is a generic 1-9, no units so who knows :P.

Yea, I remember when I first started out. I had a hard time De-soldering and soldering certain things. For example, I would accidentally leave scorch marks from having the iron in one place too long because of the fact that that iron just wasn't hot enough to melt the solder fast. Then I got my soldering station that goes up to 455 degrees Celsius and I haven't had an issue since.

A good hot iron, a steady hand and some good solder are all you really need.

I took a laser thermometer to the tip of the iron and I got around 220 celsius... It works a lot better than my last one though that took PRESSURE to melt solder  .
