JEEEEEEEEDAN
Hey guys, long time no project So alongside the Halo armor I'm working on, I decided to get a case made for a potential Gamecube portable.
Some of you may be wondering whether or not I completed the jCube...it did get finished, but I rushed to finish it and it was very think and uncomfortable so I took it apart the day I completed it. In my absentmindedness I forgot to take pictures....
Anyway, I just started on a new case today and it may or may not see a completion with the jCube's guts inside it.
I saw the lyberty5's is looking similar to mine, hahah - I'll be doing it just a bit differently though as far as I can tell so far.
Anyway, here are some pictures. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do with the back of the case to fit the motherboard into it. (It looks like flax now, but I had to hot glue each piece in place so that I could abs the back of it.
I'm about to go finish up putting the other controller part in after I finish this post. I can't decide whether or not to keep the flanks out or connect it to the portable to give me a bit more room and make it more streamlined.
As you can see there, the back is not very smooth...which confirms that as well as bondo works for armor, it does not work well for this application. I don't think I can afford more bumper filler epoxy until I get paid again, either.
The reason for that being held like it is is that I was planning to have the back out about an inch and a half or two inches so to fit the disk drive (I'll not use the SD or Wiikey thing; I want to use my discs) and the daughter board (and then the Motherboard or batteries, depending on what batteries I end up using), but as I was typing this and looking at the picture, I realized that that would probably make it very heavy on the back, which would make it fairly uncomfortable to hold. I'd appreciate any and all advice anyone could give me regarding that.
The main goal of this is to make a Gamecube portable that feels as much like the original controller as possible while playing. That's why I'll likely be getting different batteries and putting them in the controller flanks if I can find some that are capable enough with the tubular shape and a relatively small size. Who knows; this is mostly in the brainstorming stage but I really want to figure out what I'm going to do with the back first.
As I've been typing this I've realized that I'll likely round out the sides a bit and continue the flanks down to meet the bottom corners of the front of the case. If I do that, I could fit the batteries in there and only have to make the back come out about another inch for that part. We'll see, and like I said, any advice is appreciated. I'll try and update this a bit
Also, does anyone know of a 5" screen that has a board about as big as the screen? I'll look around a bit later but if you know one off the top of your head that'd be great.
