I_P's worklog

WELL i've finallyyyy decided to give it a go at making a portable n64. my idea for the portable is to make it somewhat like the XS64 by SS. The reasons i'm not gonna put it in a different case are:
- i'm incredibly impatient and don't want to wait for a case to get here, because if i were to use a different case for my first portable it would be the zn45
- the zn45 isn't a whole lot smaller than the n64 itself
- i just think it looks cool inside the n64 still ha:)

as of now i got the entire thing unscrewed, and i'm waiting until tomorrow to go up to ace hardware and get some wire to do the cart relocation.

HOWEVER, i do have a problem at the moment...

after unscrewing and removing everything i decided it would probably be a good idea to hook the n64 back up to my TV and make sure it still turned on. well, unfortunately for me it didnt... when i turn it on the screen gets a very faint red tint to it and there is no picture. the light on the n64 goes on however. does anyone have any idea what could be wrong? i removed the cart slot and then put it back in place hoping it would fix the problem, but had no success. i also unplugged/replugged in all of the power and video cables multiple times and nothing happened.

any help would be quite appreciated, thanks! :D

..... just realized i didn't have my expansion pack plugged in hahaha

my life at the moment = FAIL

well that solves that problem... i guess i'll update this tomorrow after i do the cart relocation!

What the Heck, toastbucket? what's the matter with double posts? If he hadn't made a new post, people wouldn't have come back to this thread and seen he fixed it.

Double posts are FINE.

Calling someone out for doing it is NOT.

Snow I don't want to have an arguement in his thread. I'm just giving him some advice. And his second post was made 5 minutes after his first. It was still at the top of the board.

I_P, there's an edit button in the bottom right corner of every post you make. You don't have to use it but I would suggest just pressing that and typing "EDIT:" If you look at my worklog, the Elephant64, you'll see that it's riddled with multiple posts by me. People got bored with it because there were so many posts and not much interesting info and I ended up just talking to myself the whole time. Anyway, I'm excited for updates! :D

well looks like i won't be going to get wire today, have other things that need to get done instead...

but anyway, i'm thinking i want to paint something on the case, just to make it stand out from other portables.

threw this together super fast on photoshop, sorry for the poor quality haha :p

but yeah, anyone like that general idea? any other suggestions? thanks!

P.S. i'm also planning on painting the whole case in a darker black colour

Looks cool. Tbh, I thought you had actually done that already....I was going to say you should sand the top of the screen hole a bit more  I think you should keep the original power switch. :D I like the the big 64 there. I think it'll be very cool if you can pull it off.

howdy there.

so i'm just about to order my screen (zenith), a superpad (which i'll use a gamecube joystick with), and batteries.... but i don't know what batteries to get!?

i know there's like a bunch of information on here about what type of batteries to get, but that's why it's confusing to me, because there's TOO much info on them.

i know i need something around 7ish volts, with about 4700ish mAh, i think....?

anyway can someone help me out here? i was looking at getting two of these: http://www.batteryspace.com/customizeli ... ireic.aspx and then getting the charger and protection circuit, but i dunno.

i'm really lost with the whole batteries thing haha, can someone help me? :D

so in SS's n64p's that he kept in the original case (the xs64 for example), the cartridge for the game is like... out of the case, sticking up at the top. i was wondering if i could relocate the cart slot so it would be flush with system like this (sorry for the flaxty pic quality):

will this work or will it get in the way of things? jw before i do it and it doesn't work haha

How the Heck would you get it out, pliers?

You have to sand the sides of the DC in slot a bunch to get an N64 cart to go in at all. If you jammed it that far in, good luck.

Also, the X64 had the cart on the back, not sticking out the top.

That's totally doable, but like XCVG said, it's in a little far.
 Basementmodder Not XCVG
Aside from that your Idea will be cool if you can pull it off.
