how to tell if my gc control stick is working properly?

hay guys,
im having an issue with my control stick, how can i tell if it works properly?
via the sanlink v0.4 tester how can i tell if my controller works alright?

also im using a gc C-stick in the place of a control stick.
are the wires for the c-stick the exact opposite for the control stick?

if so what are they?

any help, i desperately need help
