How-To: Frontlight your GBA

 I may get flamed for this, but I didn't read it because large pics on ipod = supar slow. Now, could I add a pot on the 3v line to make it adjustable?

I am using my iPod and the images loaded fine.

Technically, it is a little above 3v, as 3v and lower just doesn't work at all, I think due to some kind of diode in the panel or whatever.

So using a pot would NOT work you're saying?

Right.
The backlight requires a certain voltage to operate at all.
The likely result of adding a pot would simply be the ability to turn it on and off, without any "dimming" at all.

so it would pretty much just be a switch. I guess it would kinda be useful but rather pointless.

Well, it could range from the lowest voltage that it works at (~3.1V) to the highest it can take without dying (~4.3V), which would offer dramatic changes in brightness (my backlit DMG taught me the 4.3V, which the DMG provides already)

I know this is a bump, but, how can I adapt this to work on a CGB?
You do it darn near the same way.

Seriously, very little is any different at all other than where it goes and where you get power.

Bibin (!) probably has some pics he could post ;)

I think Bibin said something about VCC on a CGB...

The would be great! :pervert:

I've got no pics for you all right now of the work process as I don't own any working CGB's right now, but here's the final product. Jleemero knows the insides were ugly, but hey, what can you do at 3AM?

It had scotch tape in it.
I wanted to cry.

But yeah, I could prolly grab pics of the insides of one of mine some time...

Not tonight though.

If you desperately want, I'll put up pics of the inside of mine, but it's probably worse than the one Bibin originally made. :ashamed: (I didn't use any scotch tape though.
