GBA startup/boot animation???

Does anyone know how to make a custom boot animation for the GBA? I want to have an animation but I want to change the current generic one.

The whole gameboy advance lens flare right after you flip the switch? No. You would have completely re-write the bios.

I am aware of that much but I, unfortunately, do not know how to do that kind of a soft mod. I was kinda hoping someone might know on this site cause i'm on it often.

Well it's perfectly possible, but the fact of the matter it's fairly useless. Aside from it being kind of cool, no one with the knowledge of how to do it would want to waste multiple hours finding out how to properly flash the BIOS of a GBA.

This would undergo a few steps. First you would have to find out exactly how to flash it. Then once you figured that out, you would have to pretty much go through the code already on there to determine what does what. Then after that, you have to custom write your own bootloader to flash onto the BIOS, with your custom animation, and if you do it wrong, it's likely you wouldn't be able to play any game. So essentially it's possible, but no one will do it.

Your best/easiest bet would be to just develop your custom cartridge with your custom boot animation on the cartridge. The generic Gameboy Advance boot animation would show, then after that would be the boot animation for the game, which you could make custom. But even doing this much would be a pain.

Any reason you want this, other than just wanting a cool custom boot animation?

sorry for the bump (i've been moving)

Thank you!

Yes I am currently making a tingle tuner from windwaker (which is already being a longer project then it should be) and I want to go all out. I already got it backlit and I am making the top triangle piece using a wireless link cable, but I think a new custom boot would put it over the top :tophat:

So in short, yes the only reason I'm doing this is to be cool lol

and if I do figure out how to flash it then i will share my knowledge, because I will do this :D

sounds cool, I have my own tingle tuner plans, but it will be awhile before I work on it.
Did you back light or front light it? Show some picks o what you got if you could. I love the GBA.
