GBA SP battery question

I know I haven't been all that active as of late, school is finishing up though . But I was wondering why the battery in a GBA SP would have this exploded look to it, it looks like someone went and inflated it a little and it won't turn on. Any knowledge about it would be appreciated and thanks. If there is any way to fix it without buying a new one that would be awesome, and thanks in advance.

It means one of the cell walls breached, and now it is filled with gas. There is no way to fix it. Furthermore, you should be careful with those cells, they might be ready to breach! Luckily, a new one is only a few bucks. http://cgi.ebay.com/Fit-Gameboy-Advance ... 1e62cd6e3e
