gamecube running on li-ion PSP BATTERIES?!?!?!

in my search for batteries i came across 4000mah, 3.7v aa li-ion batteries on ebay, that are also rechargeable. would these be good? has anyone had any experience with them in powering a gamecube?. id connect them in series, and be going at 11.1v 4000mah and use a stock standard aa li ion charger where you take the batteries out.

hailrazer has pointed out that these batteries are horrible, but in my search i found these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/li-ion-3...ccessories&hash=item4cf749e48d#ht_2325wt_1141

so anyone have any idea if hooking 3 of these in series, and a 4th in parallel would give good play time as well as space efficiency as they are rather small. also if they are i'd still need one pcb for all cells to hook up to, as well as a smart charger right?

Re: gamecube running on li-ion aa batteries

If you're talking about Li-ion like these:

They are crap. I ordered several different types that said they were 4000mAh and they ran a Gamecube for about 16 minutes.

The max mAh you will get in a Li-Ion battery package 16850 is around 2800mAh. You just can't force more power out of a certain size package.

Re: gamecube running on li-ion aa batteries

i dont get why if theyre advertised as 4000mah hours? what if you connected like 3 in parallel and then another 6 in series? would that give sufficient power?

Nope, they are junky.

Quit being cheap. Cheaping out on the batteries is a no-no. Go to batteryspace and never look back.

well....you can if you're NASA, but yeah..... :P

carbsdog, yes there is stuff wrong with those cheapass batteries. They have a weaker life span (less charge cycles before losing charge completely). They are rated incorrectly, meaning you will have to test them to find the REAL mAh, which is tedious and annoying. And they voltage cutoffs are probably different too.

Now, there are a couple 2600mAh and 2800mAh that float around online and actually cheaper than batteryspace. But you have to look around.

Batteryspace is usually the way to go

Gonna give a plus one to batteryspace. I use their batteries in pretty much all of my portables, and the one I have in my ZNWii is still working great.

Re: gamecube running on li-ion macintosh BATTERIES?!?!?!

your suggestion got me thinking, what about apple mac batteries? my mac lasts for like 6 hours on full brightness word processing, so running a gamecube im guessing at around 1 hr to 1 hr 30. they're around 5000mah , usually 10.8 volts and quite slim, although rather long and wide in the other dimensions. anyone had experience with these?

Regarding the cheap chinese knockoff PSP batteries, Bacteria used some in a GP2X mod a while back. I made note of it myself, because while their reported mAh is wrong, they're still cheaper than cell phone batteries and pretty small. Great for small, low-draw projects. But you'd need a lot for a GCp. Too many, even. Assuming this link works, it should take you directly to the part of his video about these. If you watch the rest of it, he'll mention that their capacity is about half what they say.
