F-key's off by one key?

DEMON PIE!
I have an Asus 900a that I've been playing with, but something odd has happened. When I press F2, it functions as F1, or if I press F9, is functions as F8. It works this way for the whole top row of keys. The rest of the keyboard is working normally.

I've already ruled out that it could be software, because I've tried this with several versions of linux, including puppy linux, ubuntu, and xubuntu. When I enter the bios, I am supposed to press F2 to enter it to change any settings. If I press F2, it won't work. But if I press F3, it let's me change stuff around.

Any halp ?

Since it's happening everywhere, either the keyboard has a broken trace or it was taken apart at one point and not put back together properly.

If you press F1, does it type a tilde?

It doesn't type anything if I type with it. I have taken this laptop before, I will take out the keyboard and put in back in, to see if it helps.

I think it's happened to me too, before. Do you put your lappy into hibernation a lot? After a few weeks, things start to get a bit funky, don't ask why.

I took it apart to work on it again, then when I put it back to together, all the keys work great. I probably didn't have the keyboard's ribbon cable in the socket all the way.

Thanks Bic!
