They are really like tactile switches, they are like rocker switches of different sizes and types.

I don't need a D pad?

ahh, well i'll measure these buttons for the broken 3rd party PS1 pad against the ones in a 1st party ps2 controller later on and let you know if they are the same size, they look like they are. also, by pad i meant controller not D pad lol(i usually call em pads which is short for joypad or something liek that iirc)

Even if they are the same size there is a slim chance they will have the correct groves to fit into the PS1 controller button spots.

Of course thinking back to others who have applied to this philosophy, there have been some pretty sweet mods, but there have also been PS3's turned into grills and N64's that light themselves on fire...
