Does a 7805's dropout voltage change with adjusted output?

So the question is in the title. What I want to do is adjust the output from a 7805 to 6v. This I know how to do.
I understand that the 7805 drops out at around 7v. But will a 6v output make the dropout voltage higher? I want to use a 7.4v source.

I just tested this with 7.5v and 9v, using 100Ω for R2 as suggested. The voltage dropped from about 6.4v with the 9v source to about 6v with the 7.5v source. It might be worth trying if you can afford to undervolt a little.

I can definitely afford to undervolt it a little. I'm using the 6v for the audio amp on the PS1 screen, which normally takes 5v. I remember Zenloc said that the amp was designed to work at 6v and that's why the screen flickers when there is a high pitch.

So the 7805 won't drop out at ~7.5v then. Thanks, NDCaesar! :D
