best case for n64p??

hey, new here! :D

i've been creepin on these threads for awhile now, and decided to join. i've never made a portable before but i wanna make an n64p really badly haha. i'm wondering though, what should i use for the case? i was thinking of using the zn-45 cause it seems to be used a lot but... does anyone have any other suggestions for a good case?

mods - sorry if this should go in 'cases' instead, feel free to move it

Use whatever you think you can fit it in. People use the ZN45 because it's really easy, but there are tons of other cases that work.

haha no not looking for a challenge as of right now at least

and yeah i know there are tons of cases that work but i was jw if anyone had used a specific polycase model that they really liked

There's the datamax kidz delight if you want to frankencase, it's not terribly small.

ooo saw some portable done with that... looks shnazzy :dah:

might just have to try that... do you personally find making a frankencase difficult? i know not everyone on modretro is a fan of it

I think it's a good casing method and can yield great results if you spend your time sanding and smoothing and do it right. It's not terribly hard, just keep sanding with the right grits until it is smooth. There have been several threads recently regarding frankencase techniques, check those out for more info.

Frankencase rocks. Bondo and abs cement are your good friends. Like snow has mentioned before, spot and glazing putty is good for filling in low spots and small holes. As for sandpaper, I like to use 50 to level off huge bumps and lumps, then 150 grit to smooth smaller mistakes out, then 300 to start getting a smooth surface, and 1000 to finish. 'Course, everyone has different opinions on how to frankencase.

But it's a cheap and reliable method of building a case, and makes doing the controller part easier. You won't have to drill a bajillion holes, just need to bondo each section of the controller in.

Good luck!
