AV and Controller Switching

So this might be a very noob-ish question but I couldn't seem to find an answer looking through guides / old posts, so here goes:

What switching requirements are there for AV outputs from multiple sources going to one set of TV connectors if you were trying to switch between one source and the other? Similarly, what switching requirements are there for GameCube controller inputs to multiple sources? This is assuming that only one device will be used at any given time, but will share one set of controller inputs and AV outputs.

Here is a diagram I made to better explain what I'm asking:

Basically I'm wondering what I should use in those orange "??" boxes.

My understanding is that on the controller side you can just switch the Pin 2 Data line to either device and leave the rest of the voltages and grounds attached? Or do the grounds also need to be switched to each device?

And for the AV output I'm honestly not sure what kind of interference issues you would get if you just tied two AV sources together into one AV output and only powered on source at a time. I know I have seen "piggy-back AV cables" before that basically do that at the TV connection end, so I suppose I should be fine without a switch?

Thanks for any help. Someone who has done a multi-console kind of mod would probably know something about this.
