Audio: Speakers or Headphone Only?

I have no idea. Its for my first GCp and I have some experience with soldering and what not. I just don't understand how to wire the headphone jack or speakers. Yes I have read ShockSlayer's tutorial but it goes right over my head

You can wire up a switching jack fairly easy. When you plug in a cord, it automatically changes the output from speakers to headphones. This is a diagram I made for the style carried at radioshack.

Awesome! Thats just what I needed! So thats for the headphone jack, whats this that they keep taking about an audio amp circuit from speakers?

The audio amp is the amplificator, you need it, cause it takes the sound and amplify it, cause you would ear almost nothing without it, and it's usefull because you plug the two wires from you speakers to it than you just wire you right and left channels to it, and you can also add a jack between the speakers and the amp like said previously.
