Aluminum/Plastic Method

Maybe I'm dumb, but that diagram doesn't make any sense to me.

As for what plastic to use, most people use Perspex, aka acrylic or Plexiglas. Lexan, or polycarbonate is tougher. The portables in Ben's book use "engraving plastic", which is either styrene or ABS I think.

Afro, those lips coming out of the plastic, what will they be made of? Plastic just glued/screwed on to the sheet of plastic?
