this is the same idea as zeturi's RCA in cable for the ps2 screen, i don't see why this wouldn't work but i still think i need you guys' aproval, especially on the common ground part

If you are getting rid of the headphone jack and not rewiring it, don't forget to bridge the headphone points. Also, I think you need to connect 5V to one of the pins.

you don't need the 5v. only some screens act like that. the one I'm using for my N64p doesn't need it.
