What's up with my n64?

The led turns on, the tv flickers for a second, then I'm met with a black screen. I haven't done anything other than wiring up the controller and putting heatsinks on with thermal paste. I cleaned ALL of the contacts and everything. Do you have any idea what's up?

Hmm. If you're sure it's not bad soldering or something, perhaps it's the thermal paste? Did you get any of it down the sides of the chips where all the pins are? Thermal paste is usually conductive. Which means it could've bridged some contacts.
