Three way power jack

For my Gamecube portable, I have bought a 3-way power jack, and I'm confused on how to hook it up. I would like to know how to wire it to the Gamecube in a way that it will know how to power the console from AC power when it is turned on, and to charge the batteries when it is off.

sorry for this being a while late but i think u would need to put a switch by the power jaxk that when you plug it in, it flicks the switxh the way if running on wall power..and when out, the switch is the way where it runs on batteries. it is basically like the automatic switch to plug in 1st player on n64ps, except different wiring and different purposes hoped this helped!
