Step down 5v to 3v

Should I use a step down regulator, or a resistor?

Would a PTH8000 get it at 3v?

Use a PTH08080 with a 2.42k-Ω resistor to set it's output voltage to 3V.

Here is how to wire it, just change the resistor.
