Putting a DS Lite with broken hinge into new case?

So I was looking on dealextreme, and found this awesome case. Naturally as a Zelda fan, I need this case. I was thinking about buying a used DS lite, and remembered that lots of people have DS Lites with broken hinges. However, they still work fine. I was wondering if I would be better off getting one with a broken hinge and putting it in a new case. I know it would be cheaper. I just don't know if it would work or not. I'd appreciate any help on this! :)

Sorry if this has been asked before. I tried searching, but it wouldn't let me use ds in the search for some reason. It would take it out..etc.

Thanks in advance!

They also have refurbished nintendo ds lite for like 80$...take one of those ;)

$80 isn't that cheap. And apparently it comes with a non-nintendo battery and charger, and 1 stylus, and no manuals.

I don't know if replacement cases replace the hinge too or not.

If it doesn't, I saw new hinges for like 6 bucks shipped on ebay. It just seems like I could save a lot of money using one with a broken hinge.
