PSone Screen Problem!

I hooked up my PSone screen to my Gamecube, and it worked great if I didn't have a disk inserted and was just playing with the console settings. However, if I put a game in it the screen will dim and shut off after 30 seconds. I still have sound and control, but no video. I know the composite video wire works fine, but still can't find the problem. I am using a 7808 regulator, if that helps at all. I believe it may be the graphics card overheating; does that sound accurate?

Make sure your 7808 has a heatsink on it. It's a linear regulator, so all the energy it is taking out and that is not the 8v it is sending through, it loses as heat. That heat will pretty much destroy your regulator. Also make sure you've got the GPU on your Gamecube heatsink'd.
