Powering an NES without the Daughter Board

Okay. I'm trying to miniaturize an NES into a smaller casing. I would like to take out the daughter board (the corner board to the right of the cartridge slot which has the A/V and AC in).

I know how to wire up the video out and the audio out.

Only thing I don't know is how to wire the adapter in to the 7805 and then that to the motherboard.

Mario (1up on Instructables) has a schematic that shows how to wire just that (or a 12v in or something).

Problem is, I don't know a thing about schematics and his only picture of the regulator build doesn't explain anything.

Here is 1up's schematic.

Can anyone assist me?
