The parts finaly started ariving. I stripped down the ps2 and got the heat sink off. I'll post Pistures later today. Still waiting for the mod chip which is the next step.
 
Wow dude, I don't think I've ever seen a 79001 quite like that before!!! Looks like a good solid design though, its got a pretty beefy looking network chip on it, so that'll be good for SMB.

Any idea what size screen yet?
 
I managed to find a psone screen someone was selling for like $35 It was too good not to grab. That helps seing as this is my first portable and the psone screen has lots of data about it. WHat do you meen you haven't seen a 79001 like that before?
 
I guess I just have an eye for the 79001, and consequently it's variants. I must caution you about the psone screen though, unless you make sure to thoroughly shield the RGB wires, the video will have a noticeable wave pattern overlaying it
 
Luckily there are a ton of modding resources on the psone screen, lots of little tips and tricks for optimizing it's performance
