Nintendo DS Batteries?

Hi

I know Nintendo DS batteries are weak, obsolete,
And wouldn't give you much play time but how would one
Wire up these batteries would you need a protection circuit?

Yes you would need a protection circuit and what would you be connecting them to? (N64, LED, LEGO Mindstorm)

Oh, I would be using it for a n64 portable(my 3rd one). Bac said he tried it once but didn't give him much play time but I don't care as long as it gave me more than 5 minutes of play time.
