Nintendo 64 modded or fixed

Hi!

First, I'm glad that I could find a place where Big N's hardware is discussed. Even though I myself don't understand zip of eletronics, it's never late to know new things.

So I found myself wanting to play the old school N64 and decided to buy one. Unforntunately, the one that came was a Pal-M (Brazil's), so I bought another one and, unfortunately, he was modified. Like I said, I don't know much about eletronics, but I'd rather have a heads up - if it is a modification to fix something or not - before sending it to a repair service. Here it is:

Thanks for any help in advance !

Re: [Question] Nintendo 64 modded or fixed (faulty component

Does it still work...? As long as it works I wouldn't really care what's in there.

Re: [Question] Nintendo 64 modded or fixed (faulty component

In fact, I did not try to. If the reason is faulty components, I will ask for refund. If it's a modification to improve and can be removed, I will do it and keep the system.

Re: [Question] Nintendo 64 modded or fixed (faulty component

Well to me it looks like a half-finished RGB video mod, but there's a huge friggin crystal soldered into the mix, so I'm a bit stumped. Hopefully someone else can figure this out.

Re: [Question] Nintendo 64 modded or fixed (faulty component

Actually I believe that's an overclock mod, that would the reason for the crystal.
