So I did have a pin grounded that shouldn't have been on my slot relocation on the board and Mario now works!
Got the slider working great thanks to Supersonics input on the resistances and Miceenos link to the Slider info pages, So many thanks to them for that help.
Now I'm just waiting for the glue gun to heat up so I can mount the slider and trim pot assembly and close her up to take it for a test spin!
