led power source on xbox

The huge-ass main power connector, perhaps? The pinout is different, but they seem to have followed the PC convention of red for 5V and yellow for 12V.

Yeah, there's like a billion +5v lines (red) on the line from the power supply to the pseudo-ATX motherboard connector. I'd splice into one of those bad boys. I can't remember if the connector pins pop out the bottom of the mobo... if so you could also solder directly there and run your wire under your board.
