Keyboard and mouse not working simuletaneously

On my new Acer Aspire lappy, I have found that I cannot use the trackpad and keyboard at once. I can plug in an external mouse and it works fine. I have searched google a bit but cant find anything about it, and screwing with hardware options didnt help either. Any advice?

My guess is that the trackpad gets disabled when typing so your palm doesn't select something else. Probably a setting in the mouse properties under the hardware tab, select the device and look around in there.
