Saga is four discs, actually.

I don't recall the details but I seem to remember reading something like Saga's source code got lost due to a hard drive crash. Lost the code for at least one other game as well, if memory serves. Might have been Magic Knight Rayearth.

As much as I'd love to see a remake, it won't happen. As amazing as it was, as has been mentioned, it's probably too niche to sell enough to make it worthwhile, and no source code means having to redo everything from scratch -- pretty big undertaking. I don't know how willing anyone would be to tackle it anyway considering how dark its development history was. (One of the devs ended up killing himself over stress.)

I might get lynched for this, but I played Panzer Dragoon Saga on a Saturn emulator, and whilst it's a good effort and an enjoyable game, it's definately not a 'fantastic' game.
