I have a hard time finding space to do my modding. I have one desk that I use for homework and modding. Here it is:
Right to the left of my desk, I have a box containing an SNES, a smaller box full of a DVD player's mobo and parts, a soldering gun (too bulky for me to use), and miscellaneous cables and controllers and junk. On top of all of that stuff is my Atari 2600 mobo all half-modded; my N64 controller octopus not yet installed into the case, open to the elements; the N64 and screen; and at least one NES.

The good news, however is that I'm moving out in about 4 months to (the bad news: ) a dorm room at USF. This means that I'll lose my tiny desk for a probably much smaller desk. Luckily, I'll probably have room to store an NESCade in the dorm room, and still have room for a Van der Graff generator. Hopefully.
Anyway, rant aside, I'm really making this thread for suggestions and/or discussions on coping with little working room. My lack of space is limiting my project options and completion rates.
