Help Identify SNES Model 2 Component

I bought a SNES model 2 on eBay. I had tested it with my friends power supply and it works fine. I did't use the one that came with it because it was sorta iffy, something was rattling around inside. My roommate decided, even though I told him not to mess with it, to plug it in. The power supply fried it. I figured I could just replace the voltage regulator. Unfortunately there is some weird thing I've never seen before in front of it. Can anyone tell me what the Heck this thing is and where I can get another one?

More importantly why is there no fuse?

That thing looks like a diode.

It looks like a low-power bridge rectifier, but I can't be sure without a better shot of the top.

looks like an optocoupler/opto-isolator to me
