Gamecube Controller Issue

So, I had received this controller off of ebay a couple months back.
However the only problem i have is that the buttons look and feel lower in the case than other gamecube controllers?
Any ideas as to why this may be?

Maybe its one of those knockoff/ third party controllers and the case wasn't molded properly?

It's also possible that the little membranes that are used are just old and ripped from a lot of use

It's definitely a first-party controller it has the nintendo gamecube controller on it and I since i got it off ebay that's probably the most reasonable scenario,
i'll try to get pics later and a comparison
