Does this diagram actually work.

I was looking at shockslayers post about how to extend the gc disk drive but I couldnt perform it since his pics were all broken.
Then I found this relatively new post about the same topic and at the very end there was a diagram made by the thread creator.
Now my question is : Does this diagram actually work with the shock slayer guide?
