Best option for regulator?

I'm looking LED mod my clear gamecube controller and the LEDs I found only come in 12v. What would be the best option to up the 5v the gamecube controller receives to the 12v the LEDs need and be able to fit it into a gamecube controller?

Where are you getting 12V LEDs? Most LEDs have a forward voltage that's much, much lower.

most LEDs operate more in the 3.3V range. I'd look for those rather than trying to step up the voltage.

Where are you looking for LEDs? Bare LEDs should be 1.8-3.3v. 12v LEDs are several in series and/or have the appropriate resistor to allow them to run off 12v without dying and are generally for automotive or household lighting.
Ebay, DX, and many hobby sites have bare LEDs. Even Radioshack still sells them.
