4 AA Snes Question

From testing the snes and my screen run fine from 4.8 volts (4 Ni-mh rechargeable batteries). It is wired to bypass the 7805 on the snes, and the input and output of the 7805 is bridged for audio. Will the snes be able to take 6 volts if using alkaline batteries in case the person I'm making it for uses alkaline batteries?

I found it takes up to 5.6 volts, (5 rechargeable batteries) but I'm reluctant to go higher. Is .4 volts that much more?

It's not much more, but who knows what the tolerance is?

I was in the same situation before with the Genesis, but I was wimpy and decided to never try. Always to scared to fry the mobo.
