Wii Black Lines

I like purpale ponies
Black lines and dots are appearing in game and stuff on my wii, have been for a really long time. I know it's some kind of GPU overheating, but is it fixable?(my wii is modded and has no case so I can't really send it in) People on the internet all say to send it to Nintendo due to faulty GPUs and stuff, but it's just the heating. Right? Could I just reflow the Playstation some way or another and go on with my life?

No. It's permanent heat damage. Sucks. Get a black one this time.
lolfail?
What? I'm telling him there is no fix. The GPU gets damaged by heat over time, there is no repair. I was telling him to get a new one. Or he could send it in for repair.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Anybody sure about that?

I would try a new cooling setup first. The GPU has a heatsink of some kind, I'd assume -- try replacing it with a better one if possible, and use some Arctic Silver. Couldn't hurt.

The only issue is, the problem doesn't come when it gets hot, it happens because its been hurt by heat. Its like getting sunburned, irreparable damage is done over time, not like getting sweaty from being temporarily exposed to heat.

You could very well be right, but like I said, it couldn't hurt to try new cooling.

Either way you're probably gonna have to get a new Wii before long.

I'm about to add a fan to the main metal flax that's under the dvd drive, if that'll help. The lines dont't appear for a few seconds on screen, if that helps at all. Also, if a 360's gpu doesn't die I don't think a wii one would normally. Right?

Black insulates heat. Probably not enough to make a GPU overheat, but the crammyness of the Wii surrounded by a cheap black Chinese case and a crappy fan will probably make a black Wii have problems prematurely, compared to a standard Wii.

Lines showing up after I turned the thing on from room temperature, I think my wii is done for :cry4:

You could possibly buy I used GPU and replace it yourself, but good luck on that one. Call nintendo and ask for repair rates. If you sign up for club nintendo you can extend your warranty, but I dont know if that will help.
