Testing ads

Yeah, I know, you people hate ads. Right now, I am just playing with them, NOTHING is final, there is nothing to be worried about, because I would not piss you guys off for the world. I am only doing this to try and keep MR self sufficient, I am not making any bank off this, not by a long shot.

Thanks guys. <3 Leave feedback on what you think!

Ads are not a bad thing, but the way they are right now is horrible. The "Advertise Here" at the top pushes the logo over and is right in your face. At least the Operation Fabulous one is on the bottom now, because it is way bright and annoying.

Using Firefox 3.6.17, which generally displays better than IE but not in this case.

Yeah it pushes over the banner for me too. I think you should have ads, because looking at them doesn't bother me much, and I don't think you should have to pay a bunch of pocket cash to keep this amazing site up.

Just NO pop up ads, no ads with audio, and no ads that replace the screen and make you wait 15 seconds before you can continue on to the page you were trying to go to. That's my opinion.

Properly placed ads don't bother me. And of course, no audio, etc.

I think if MR wasn't mostly a forum, ads definitely wouldn't bother me, but the forum format doesn't lend itself well to ads. Or at least MR's format.

What format would you suggest for MR?

Well, that's just the thing, I really dig the current format. I don't want it to change, but ads don't lend well to this format usually.

Even ads in the footer of the page? You cannot get more out of the way then below every single other element. :P I could also see about putting ads where it currently says "100% Pure American Jelly Products".

The bottom's fine.

There are a few places, but the sides are not available due to the width of the page, so no verticals on the side. There could be one under the slogan, I suppose, another place that may be alright could be a very reasonably sized rectangle between the last visit and the current date at the top.

No matter what happens, I am not going to moan about people blocking ads too much. If you deem the ads intrusive, by all means, block them.

If you really need to put a banner ad in the header, replace the tagline with it. Otherwise you're stuck with 50 acres of empty header whitespace. :\

Ok, I removed the header. I am going to mess with making ads that only show up to non-registered users, with a message above them that tells them they can get rid of ads by registering.

This has probably been mentioned, but the ad would fit perfectly where the "The Official ModRetro Forums!
100% Pure American Jelly Products" is.
