Don't worry, I still have to break 10 more motherboards before I can finish this portable.

Theres a lot of reasons I shouldn't show this worklog but I'm incredibly bored since Im waiting on supplies to finish putting my Ccube together. I never do things in order, you guys know that.

Disclaimer: I get busy, I get distracted, and I usually think of a better smaller case design. Thus, I am not guaranteeing in any way that this will ever get done. It probably won't.

Now then, I scraped my old case design because i thought of a better smaller case design and here we go:

Main housing will be less than 1.5" thick, more on that upon presentation. Disc drive will externally stick out the back of the case. That extrusion sticks out an inch. So most of the case is thin with the disc drive in the middle being the thick part.

I will never take this outside, so batteries is a waste of time, space, and money for me.
Its gonna have batteries. 4 cells, over 2 hours battery life. heh :P

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

That case concept is awesome.

I'm glad we finally found out what the secret case commission was. :awesome:

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

good looking, kinda looks like zenloc's new gcp concept, but with very well thought out controls, nice touch on the X an Y buttons placement there :P

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

Looks great so far =) Keep up the nice work!
One question: Where do you want to place the start-button?

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

Woohoo, looks great! Can you post some pics of your gc motherboard, so we can see how much you've trimmed it? I really want to start a gcp, and you're the guy to go to for this stuff, Mr. Mobo Man. Case sorta reminds me of the sixty free lite-r, if you know what I mean.

And beta, it looks like he hotglued the buttons right onto the tacts, so they would stay in place along with the tacts.

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

super glue actually. Awful stuff, got it in my eye one time....

Start button....thats where you guys come in. I have no idea where to put it tbh.

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

Have L and R, then have Z and start as two other shoulder buttons

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

Start should be a tall tact close to X and Y. Best thing ever, just shave/sand/file the tact down(or put it lower in the case) so you can't accidentally press it, probably sticking out of the case by .5mm

SS

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

I'm not visualizing this SS, wanna shoop?

I wanted to put start on the right side but I'm afraid it will feel to crowded over there. But anywhere else just looks awkward..

And no pics of the motherboard. so stop asking :P

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

I forgot that its easy to read when you are zoomed in like a mofo

Eh, I think he gets it.

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

Oh, I get it now. Reminds me of where you put it on your first gcp.(first or second, I think first)

Re: Tchays second Gamecube Portable worklog

In my opinion. The best place for start is directly above and to the right of the left analog stick
