Hey all, sorry if, by posting this, I seem yet another random noob interesting in this portable-making scene who sets their goals a bit high. I'm pretty patient, can follow tutorials/guides/etc. to the best of my ability, and like to get things done myself.
I know some of you would just suggest that I pay for a commission, but I'd much rather work on one myself. It can be a bit pricey for either(asking for a commission or making one yourself), but the latter seems more reasonable, imo. Not only will it help me learn about this field but, if money usage is going to be a bit higher, I could at least fix things on my own rather than scream at thought of not knowing what the heck to do.
Anyways, I have some questions before I even consider what I'll be getting, etc.(which probably won't be for a while anyways):
1. What exactly does a Wiikey do?
So far I've seen that it can store game backups and what not, so does that mean you could use ISOs and such? Does it still require disk to run? Is it any easier than just making it so you run gamecube game discs?
I know about the price, but that is the least of my worries.
2. How much would it cost, at minimum, to pull off something like this(that is assuming you get things done right the first time)?
I can't seem to find a general quote these days on that.
3. Does anyone do commissions for cases(one of my main concerns)?
Checked to see if any particularly good ones were for sale anywhere, but haven't had much success. I would love one that looks similiar to Ashen's(the one that's kind of shaped like a PSP, seems like it is good on the hands while playing), although I wouldn't be sure that I could pull off making something like that, just like the shape. I'll probably hold off on something like this until I see what I can make of other steps of the process.
Like I mentioned before, I think I could pull a GCp off as a first, if I can remain focused and patient. From what I've seen, it looks like a lot of fun doing it yourself(money aside) and that way you know what to do if a problem arises. Would prefer not to have to contact the maker everytime something goes wrong(not saying nobody makes quality builds, just you never know...).
If I have anymore questions, I'll let you know on this thread. For now, and the upcoming weeks, I'm going to go over the stickeys and such to figure out what I want to do and how to go about it.
Thanks for your time everyone. Looking forward to responses.
